The interior and body are decorated with playful hand-painted motifs: a woven netting/lattice pattern, a small bee or insect figure, and loose calligraphic scrollwork, all rendered in dark iron pigment over a warm beige stoneware ground. The piece rests on small nub feet, and the underside bears an incised character mark.

A charming, sculptural piece — well suited as a small serving dish, spoon rest, or decorative tray, showcasing the spontaneous brushwork and asymmetry prized in Oribe pottery.

Details:

• Origin: Oribe ware, Japan

• Form: fan-shaped dish with pinched sculptural handle, raised on small nub feet

• Decoration: hand-painted net/lattice pattern, insect motif, and scrollwork in iron-brown pigment

• Glaze: dark glossy glaze pooling into olive-brown tones over beige stoneware

• Marking: incised character mark on underside (see photos)

• Condition: Good vintage/secondhand condition.
