Celadon Sake Cups, Pair — Carved Scrollwork, Crackle Glaze
Celadon Sake Cups, Pair — Carved Scrollwork, Crackle Glaze
These small celadon sake cups feature a soft grey-green glaze over hand-carved scrolling floral (peony vine) motifs, with the incised lines catching subtle pooling in the glaze. A fine, allover crackle runs through the surface — a natural result of the glaze and clay contracting at different rates during cooling. The foot ring is left unglazed, revealing a warm reddish-brown clay body, a classic celadon-ware detail.
