Japanese Sometsuke Blue & White Plate, Hand-Painted Floral, Scalloped Rim.
Japanese Sometsuke Blue & White Plate, Hand-Painted Floral, Scalloped Rim.
A Japanese sometsuke-style plate, hand-painted in cobalt blue underglaze with the same trailing vine and floral motif seen across this maker’s tableware. The rim is softly scalloped and uneven, showing hand-forming rather than mold production, with a deeper blue wash pooling along the edge. Glaze is clear over an ivory-toned body, brushwork visible throughout.
Underside carries a blue underglaze mark in a square cartouche, appears to depict a pine/landscape motif — a different mark than the maker’s stamp seen on the matching bowl set, suggesting it may be a companion piece or from a related kiln.
