Bizen-yaki by Kimura Tōhō Yunomi Teacup — Natural Goma Ash Glaze
This yunomi teacup is Bizen ware by Kimura Tōhō, showcasing the deep reddish-brown “hiiro” tones and speckled “goma” (sesame seed) ash effect that define traditional Bizen pottery. No glaze is applied — the golden-brown speckling results entirely from wood ash naturally falling and fusing onto the clay surface during the long anagama firing, while the rest of the body develops its rich brown-purple hue from direct contact with flame and embers.
