Kiyomizu Kyo-yaki Zenho Matcha Chawan — Hand-Painted Dropping Cherry Blossom, Original Box

A Kiyomizu Kyo-yaki matcha chawan by Zenho, hand-painted with a dropping cherry blossom (shidare-zakura) motif in soft red, white, and gold enamel with jade-green leaf accents, scattered petals trailing down the exterior and into the interior of the bowl. The glaze has a warm ivory ground with a soft peach-toned blush band near the base, and fine overall crackle typical of Kyoto ware. The rounded, slightly asymmetric form sits on a raised foot, with a circular impressed Zenho mark on the underside. Comes in its original fitted presentation box.

Kiyomizu-yaki is Kyoto’s celebrated ceramic tradition, prized for refined hand-painted decoration and fine porcelain/stoneware bodies — this piece is well suited for tea ceremony use or display.
