Kohiki Rice Bowls, Pair — White Slip, Iron Speckles, Kobiki-an, Wooden Box
This pair of kohiki (粉引, "powder-drawn") rice bowls comes from the Kobiki-an (粉引庵) range. Kohiki is a technique that originated in Korean buncheong wares of the Joseon period and became highly prized in Japan for tea and table ceramics. A darker clay body is coated in white slip and then glazed, giving a soft, powdery white surface that lets the clay beneath peek through.
They come in their original wooden box, with the Kobiki-an name printed on the lid. The original paper labels are still on the bowls.
