Kohiki Chunky Mug, White Slip Glaze with Iron Brush Marks, Stamped
A hand-thrown Japanese studio mug in the Kohiki style, featuring a thick, chunky loop handle and a slightly irregular, hand-built rim. Finished in a soft white slip glaze over a warm reddish-brown clay body, with the characteristic Kohiki look of the darker clay peeking through at the rim and base. Loose iron-brown brushstroke marks decorate the body, adding contrast against the milky white surface.
The unglazed footring reveals the rich brown stoneware clay, and the base carries a small impressed maker’s stamp. A substantial, tactile piece with genuine weight and presence in the hand. Please see photos for exact condition, including glaze crazing and any small chips or wear consistent with handmade pottery.
