Mino-Yaki Studio Mugs, Hand-Painted Berry Design & Plain Crackle Glaze
A Japanese Mino ware mugs, hand-thrown with an organic, faceted body and a single loop handle. One mug is hand-painted with a delicate branch of green leaves and pink berries in soft iron and celadon pigments; the other is left in a plain warm grey crackle glaze, letting the throwing marks and textured surface speak for themselves. Both share the same irregular, softly pinched rim and carved vertical ridges running down the body.
The base of the floral mug carries a small impressed maker’s stamp, while the plain grey mug has a painted inventory number on the underside. Fine crazing runs throughout the glaze on both pieces, typical of Mino ware. Please see photos for exact condition, including glaze crazing and any wear consistent with age and use.
