Oribe Ware Fan-Shaped Footed Dish - Hand-Painted Net & Insect Motif, Sculptural Handle

A distinctive fan-shaped dish in the Oribe ware tradition, featuring a sculptural pinched handle with a small pooled recess at one end — finished in a deep, glossy dark glaze that bleeds into rich olive-brown tones. The interior and body are decorated with playful hand-painted motifs: a woven netting/lattice pattern, a small bee or insect figure, and loose calligraphic scrollwork, all rendered in dark iron pigment over a warm beige stoneware ground. The piece rests on small nub feet, and the underside bears an incised character mark.

A charming, sculptural piece — well suited as a small serving dish, spoon rest, or decorative tray, showcasing the spontaneous brushwork and asymmetry prized in Oribe pottery.
