Hagi-yaki Guinomi Cups, Set of 3 — Blush Pink Glaze, Split Foot
Hagi-yaki Guinomi Cups, Set of 3 — Blush Pink Glaze, Split Foot
A set of three Hagi-yaki guinomi (flared drinking cups), each with the characteristic soft pink-to-cream “Hagi blush” glaze fading from pale rose at the base into an ivory rim. The fine crackle (kannyu) typical of Hagi ware runs throughout, and each cup tapers outward from a narrow foot to a wide mouth, with a distinctive notched or split foot (kirikodai) — a traditional Hagi foot style. Impressed maker’s mark visible on the exterior near the base of at least one cup.
Hagi ware is one of Japan’s most beloved tea-ceremony ceramics, prized for its soft, porous glaze that’s said to change character with use over time (“Hagi no nanabake” — the seven transformations of Hagi). The pink blush and crackle here are hallmarks of the style.
