Ido-Style Chawan Cup — Cream Glaze, Spiraled Interior, Kairagi Foot Ring
This single cup takes a tapered, slightly conical form that widens gently from base to rim — a silhouette closely associated with Korean-influenced Ido-style tea bowls adapted into cup form. Inside the bowl, a visible spiral tool mark radiates from the center — a signature trace of the throwing process, left deliberately exposed rather than smoothed away, and prized in wabi-sabi aesthetics as a mark of the maker's hand.
Rust-brown iron staining collects unevenly at the rim and pools faintly inside, while the unglazed footring shows the characteristic rough, crackled "kairagi" texture and small kiln-grit scarring typical of this glaze-and-clay combination fired at high temperature.
