Japanese Blue and White Sometsuke Teacup Mugs, Hand-Painted Floral Design, Set of Two
A pair of Japanese ceramic teacup mugs in traditional sometsuke (blue and white) style, hand-painted with a flowing floral and scrollwork design in cobalt blue under a crackled ivory glaze. Each cup has a single loop handle, also decorated with a small painted flower motif, and a wide, rounded body that tapers to an unglazed footring showing the warm tan clay body beneath.
The base of each cup carries a painted maker’s mark within a square border. Fine crazing runs throughout the glaze, typical of this style. Please note one cup shows a visible old repair/hairline crack inside the rim (visible in photos) — please see photos for exact condition, including this and any other wear consistent with age and use.
