Kiyomizu Yaki Scalloped Bowls, Pair — Blush Pink Gradient Glaze, Iron-Rimmed Wave Edge
Kiyomizu Yaki Scalloped Bowls, Pair — Blush Pink Gradient Glaze, Iron-Rimmed Wave Edge
This pair of nested bowls is Kiyomizu ware (Kiyomizu-yaki, 清水焼), produced by potters of the Kyoto Kiyomizu-yaki Cooperative Association (Kyoto Kiyomizu-yaki Kyōdō Kumiai) — the historic ceramics district centered around Kiyomizu-dera in eastern Kyoto, renowned for refined, often hand-finished tableware. Each bowl has a soft, irregular scalloped rim finished in a dark iron-brown glaze that runs unevenly, pooling thicker in places for a hand-applied, painterly look. The interior glaze is a pale ivory-white base with a gentle blush-pink gradient washing across the center — a soft, atmospheric color effect (likely an underglaze pigment blown or brushed on before the clear glaze)
