Kutani Ware Footed Sake Cups & Stands, Set of 5 — Hand-Painted Chrysanthemum, Crackle Glaze
Kutani Ware Footed Sake Cups & Stands, Set of 5 — Hand-Painted Chrysanthemum, Crackle Glaze
A Kutani ware set — five footed sake cups (pedestal-based, flared bowl), all finished in Kutani’s signature fine crackle glaze over a warm ivory body. Each piece is hand-painted with a chrysanthemum spray in red, white, and gold enamel with green foliage, one cup featuring a purple-accented floral instead. The crackle pattern runs finely and evenly across every surface, typical of aged Kutani glaze. At least one piece bears a red overglaze mark on the base.
Kutani is one of Japan’s most recognized porcelain traditions, known for detailed overglaze enamel painting — this set’s floral work and gilt detailing are characteristic of that style.
