Stoneware Grater Plate (Oroshizara) — Turquoise Ash-Drip Glaze, Woven-Texture Unglazed Grating Surface

This is a functional grating dish (oroshizara/おろし皿), a Japanese kitchen form used for grating ginger, garlic, daikon, or wasabi directly onto the plate. The design is centered entirely around use: a raised, diamond-shaped patch at the center is left completely unglazed, textured with a dense woven or mesh-impressed grid of small raised nubs that act as the actual grating surface — visible wear and light staining across the ridges shows this piece has been used for its intended purpose.
Surrounding that working area, the interior is finished in a vivid turquoise ash-style glaze that pools thick and glassy at the rim, then breaks unevenly into a jagged, cloud-like edge where it meets the raw stoneware — a striking, deliberate contrast between wet glassy glaze and dry unglazed clay. A small pinched spout at one side of the rim allows grated liquid or pulp to be poured or scraped off cleanly.
